Ok, so I think I'm a pretty good dog owner-- I use the term VERY loosely, but I try. The good dog owner in me felt bad every time Pippa would empty her water bowl in 30 seconds, and I would leave it empty until I felt like getting up and refilling it. So, I'm at Target about a month ago and I happen upon this 6 Liter water dispenser... I think to myself, score! Now I don't have to refill that stupid water bowl 4 times a day. As hideous as this very useful tool is, I buy it because these days, convenience wins.
I also happen to think that I'm a pretty good mom... but no one person has the ability to watch their child every second of the day (I mean the bathroom doors are all closed, there aren't any knives lying around, you know...). So I'm in the front room getting something so useless that I can't even remember what it was now, and I hear Pippa drinking and drinking, and drinking. Averie, of course is in the family room, quietly playing with her toys... and I think to myself... self, Pippa sure is thirsty... and then I think to myself... NO- Averie is playing in Pippa's continuous watering contraption! I run to the kitchen, and there she is, having a fantastic time, sitting in approximately 5 Liters of water (the other liter was on the wall and soaked into her clothes-- be sure that that thing was EMPTY).
It's hard to get upset at a 1 year old, so I just sighed, and stripped the girl down to the diaper. Her sweats weighed probably 6 pounds, they'd soaked up so much water... and it took 3 bath towels to clean up all that had spilled... because of course I'd filled that waterer that morning! But, so goes our lives. I think I've learned a valuable lesson here, but I'm not sure what it is. Something to do with finding a balance between being a good mom and a good dog owner... for now, I keep that damn thing full, but I run every time Pippa gets a drink, just to be sure I'm not going to have the same debacle all over again!
Here are a couple of cute pictures we've taken over the past few weeks...
My super smart, dorky girls and a trip to visit Uncle Matt at the firehouse.
This reminds me of when Seth used to help himself to the cat food! I finally had to move it up onto the dryer...
ReplyDeleteAs they say...this too shall pass. I LOVE her ponytail!
